Camping in September

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

A good Camping Kettle is one of the most important pieces of kit that I pack when I set off camping each september.

In particular I have a rather battered and well used Highlander Whistling Kettle available at the Outdoor Store for £9.99.

At the moment I’m trying out the Scottish Munro’s, which is a slightly difficult journey from Weymouth.  But I have managed 51 out of the 283.

Packet Soups, hot water bottles, dried food, hot chocolate all are essentials in my ruck-sack.

If you are looking for a whistling kettle, you could do a lot worse.  Check it out at the Outdoor Store.

Camping kettle

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Camping in September is not quite over yet.  If you are looking to get away you will now be dusting down all your camping equipment and that includes the ubiquitous Camping Kettle.

As a big fan of the Lake District I love going onto the hills and walking for 10’ish or so miles.

After the walk there is nothing quite like a lovely cup of tea.   So we unpack our rather battered and slightly unloved Highlander Whistling Kettle.

The Highlander Whistling Kettle holds 1 or 2 litres which is obviously enough for a couple of teas.  But importantly the 2L Highlander Camping kettle holds enough to get heat up your hot water bottles for the sleeping bag – I may have softened over the years.

They come in several colours, red, blue and Green Call it hold 1 or 2 L and the handle doesn’t heat up and call me old fashioned but I love the whistle, every time I hear it really reminds me that I’m outdoors.

Why not pop in and visit us at The Outdoor Store next to the railway station where we supply a full range of clothing, footwear and maps to cater for a variety of outdoor pursuits.
