From small beginnings started some 41 years ago, this annual event has become one of the UK’s best attractions for those interested in how people lived and worked in bygone years.
The four day spectacle covers an enormous showground that will take your breath away when you arrive. Situated on the outskirts of Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum and you will find lots of things to see and do including:-

The Great Dorset Steam Fair is a typically British event offering a unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment. Why not soak up the great Dorset outdoors and visit a festival with a unique atmosphere whether as a day visitor or taking in the full five days by camping on site. There is no other event like it anywhere in the world which is why over 200,000 visitors attend each year both from the UK and from all over the World!
The show has something for everyone, whatever your interests! Maybe you are a collector, a steam fanatic, an exhibitor, a heavy horse fan, an avid camper, a music fan or just on holiday in the South of England at the end of August/beginning of September and fancy an excursion to what is described as the most remarkable show on earth!
The dates for the 2009 Great Dorset Steam Show are: Wednesday 2nd September, Thursday 3rd September, Friday 4th September, Saturday 5th September and Sunday 6th September.
Getting to The Great Dorset Steam Fair
By Car:
The Steam Fair is situated on the A354 between Blandford and Salisbury in the village of Tarrant Hinton.
Coming from the London area;
Take M3, A303, A343 to Salisbury and A354 to the showground
Coming from the North West;
Take M5, M4, A46, A36 and A350 to Blandford
Coming from Devon and Cornwall
Take A30, A35 and A354 to Blandford
Coming from the Midlands
Take M1, A43, M40, A34, A303, A343 to Salisbury and A354 to the Showground
Coming from Southampton/Portsmouth/Sussex
Take M27, A31, A350 and A354 to showground
By Bus:

Adult prices are £13.50 per day
Child prices are £7.00 per day
OAP prices are £12.00 per day
